AMEREDEV /
AUSTIN, TX

The sleek, contrasting, yet refined office of Ameredev, E&P oil and gas company, was designed with Southwestern influence derived from the Permian Basin, where their current operations are focused. To balance the design intent of the interiors, the collective team intended to display artwork that was minimal in design yet had a sophisticated, modern, and bold presence. To demonstrate our solution, we tapped a local artisan to create two custom mirrored and brushed aluminum pieces. Through a design inspired from a cross-sectional map of the Permian Basin and a molecular structure, kerogen, found in oil shale, met/gal executed not just the aesthetic goals but artistically reinforced the core work of the company.

“I wanted to create something truly unique to the client, but also not too informative to the viewer. If they know about the oil refinery or the chemistry they’ll know what it is, but to the casual observer, it is just a cool piece of abstract art and sometimes that’s enough.”
